“#workfromhome now becomes a trend. Kummara is famous because every year everyone is not allowed to go to the office for 4-8 weeks. Is it true?”
“Yes. Every year we have ‘Winter Time’, generally 4-8 weeks, where all teams can work outside the office. The aim is everyone able to learn the discipline of good work wherever they are. Winter time has started from the beginning of Kummara was founded and has become part of our culture.”
“So, when everyone was still excited adjusting to #workfromhome, the Kummara team must have been ready?”
“Our annual Winter Time is a training ground. Everything has been calculated and prepared. The habit of remote working during Winter Time is very useful, but these past few weeks is the real deal. We face a global crisis that has never been experienced before. The demand to be able to #workfromhome is only the beginning of a disruption storm that will hit. For me personally, the past month has been very difficult – and I realize that it will get worse, before it improves.”
“A leader must show optimism, right? Why do you say it’s hard and it feels pessimistic?”
“Just like playing a game, realizing and recognizing that there are severe challenges ahead does not mean that we will later give up. In fact, by recognizing that there are severe challenges, a good player/leader will be more enthusiastic. He will be more critical to see all solutions, not lead by emotion, and not easily discouraged. I’m still learning to do it all.”
“So what will Kummara do in this difficult time?”
“The Kummara Group currently consists of 5 divisions (kummara.com, monkeymelody.com, boardgame.id, manikmaya.com, ludenara.org) which are growing. We will do what we always do, play the best we can and even better! We will try to do everything we can to help Indonesia face this challenge. We realize there is a possibility that things will get worse, before they get better. But if we can do our best, bring a lot of good work, in the midst of the worst conditions – imagine what we can do when things improve.”
