Even Adult Needs to Play

Research has shown that play has a significant impact for children, especially on physical, cognitive, emotional and social health. What about adults, do adults need to play?

When we were kids, we really loved to play, anytime and almost everywhere. But, as we are getting older, become busier, we almost forget to play. Many people think, that play is just wasting time.

There has been a research about health benefits of adult play.  Professor of psychology at the University of Texas School of Public Health, Blair Justice says, “Playtime is essential to help adults relieve stress. Not only reduce stress, play can also give us a sense of pleasure and satisfaction.”

Play also has some benefit in the workplace, “adult play helps to alleviate boredom, release tensions, prevent aggression, and create work group solidarity,” says Norman C. H. Wong of the University of Hawaii. Play also facilitates organizational learning, creativity, community-building and group cohesion, and overall, enhances adaptivity and attentiveness.

My father, 70 years old still enjoy playing with my nephews almost everyday. It makes his life more happier, then just thinking about his old age. We do not stop playing because we grow old. We grow old because we stop playing. ~George Bernard Shaw

I think, all the people, children or adult need to play and enjoying it. So, let’s play!
